Kageyama (Sho Sakurai) works as the butler for rich heiress Reiko Hosho (Keiko Kitagawa). Reiko happens to be a novice detective but lacks certain deductive skills needed by detectives. Because of this Reiko relies on Kageyamaa to help her solve cases. Meanwhile, Kageyama isn’t afraid to mince words and often calls out Reiko with his sharp tongue!

Based on popular mystery novel by Japanese writer Tokuya Higashigawa,“The After-Dinner Mysteries” is a rather typical Japanese mystery movie. Directed by Masato Hijikata, the film revolves around “Reiko Hosho” (Keiko Kitagawa), a police detective who also happens to be a wealthy heiress and a spoiled-brat. She takes a vacation aboard a luxury cruise liner, but winds up embroiled in a murder mystery. With the help of her observant, crime-solving butler “Kageyama” (Sho Sakurai, J-pop group Arashi’s), the mystery is unravelled. In the midst of all of this, “Hosho” has to deal with her annoying boss “Kyoichiro Kazamatsuri” (Kippei Shiina).
